Lesson Objectives

Lesson objectives:
To understand the meaning of mainstream and niche products.

Mainstream Product - a very popular product, used/read by thousands of people. Distributed largely and a large readership. Mainstream is the new trend. when one "style" becomes old, a new one is reborn. Examples of Mainstream magazines are: Kerrang, Q, NME.

Niche Product - A area of the market specializing in one type of product or service. This targets only a small proportion within the population. The figures are only a small compared to a mainstream product. Examples of Niche magazines are: Guitar & Bass Froots.
